Senator Hassan Mohammad Gusau (PDP – Zamfara Central) has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The senator disclosed this in a letter forwarded to Senate President Ahmad Lawan and read at plenary on Tuesday.

“My decision is necessitated due to the collapse of internal democracy and factionalisation of the party from ward levels in Zamfara State.

“Further decisions on political movement and party affiliations will be communicated to this chamber in due course,” Gusau’s letter read.

The senator’s resignation is coming on the heels of Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle’s rumoured defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) later today.
