President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine has shared his thoughts on the outcome of his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, describing it as “not good for both sides.” The meeting, held at the Oval Office, White House, devolved into a public confrontation, with Trump and Vice-President JD Vance accusing Zelenskyy of “gambling with world war three.”
Zelenskyy expressed regret over the contentious meeting but remained hopeful that his relationship with Trump could be salvaged. Speaking to Fox News, he agreed that the dispute was “not good for both sides” but did not directly address whether he owed Trump an apology. Instead, he emphasized the importance of being open and honest, stating, “I’m not sure that we did something bad.”

The Ukrainian leader’s visit to the U.S. was intended for a high-stakes meeting about a minerals deal, which was hoped to be a step toward unlocking security guarantees from the U.S. as part of a ceasefire agreement to end the ongoing war. However, the on-camera dispute led to Zelenskyy leaving the White House early, and a press conference to announce the minerals deal was scrapped.
