Zimbabwe’s VP’s Wife Arrested on Money Laundering, Fraud Charges

Zimbabwean Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga’s estranged wife, who was arrested over fraud charges, will appear in court on initial remand on Monday, Zimbabwe’s anti-corruption commission said.

 

The commission arrested 38-year-old Marry Mubaiwa on Dec. 14, spokesman John Makamure confirmed on Monday.

Mubaiwa faces six counts of externalisation of funds, five counts of money laundering and one of fraud.

She allegedly moved more than one million dollars out of the country and laundered nearly 920,000 dollars.
