A laboratory assistant has been arrested by the police for selling pregnant women’s blood to ritualists.

According to report, the Ghanaian police arrested the middle-aged labratory assistant identified as Stephen Enyan who worked at the Abura Dunkwa District Hospital located in the Central Region for allegedly selling the blood of pregnant women.

Reports indicated that the police arrested the laboratory assistant after a tip-off that he had created a business from selling blood belonging to pregnant women to a group of ritualists known as ‘Sakawa Boys’.’

Reports indicated that most of the pregnant women who visited the clinic for ante-natal check-up usually lost their babies or in some other cases, their lives.

The frequency of the loss of babies and mothers caused the hospital management to launch an investigation into the matter.

The hospital management also involved men of the Abura Dunkwa District Police which led to the discovery.

Policemen who chatted with Enyan on WhatsApp reported that he offered to sell the blood of a pregnant woman for GH¢10,000 with GH¢250 as part payment.
