The Ogun Government on Monday said it has embarked on agro-forestry project at Imeko-Aworo Forest Reserve in collaboration with the Agence Francaise de Development and Lafarge Africa.

Mr Kolawole Lawal, the state Commissioner for Forestry, made this known during an assessment tour of the project site in Yewa North Local Government Area.

Lawal said that the land restoration project at Imeko-Aworo needed the support of development banks and international agencies to make it a reality.

He said that the project initiated by Gov. lbikunle Amosun’s administration was aimed at conserving the forest reserve and create jobs for people of the state.

Lawal said that the Agence had indicated its readiness to support the state government to actualise the project as soon as the feasibility studies were concluded.

In his remarks, Mr Olivier Delefosse, the Director, Agence Francaise de Development, said that the project would assist in revitalising the degraded land in the forest reserve.

Delefosse assured the people of the area that the project would kick off immediately the feasibility studies were completed. (NAN)
