Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday during the opening ceremony of EU-Nigeria Business Forum 2016 in Victoria Island, said that foreign investors were trooping into the state thereby making it attractive for investments.

He stated that the agricultural sector of the economy is very reliable as daily food consumption of food items in the state is over N3billion.

According to Ambode, the country had no business importing food items to feed its citizens when they can till the soil and get the best agricultural value.

Ambode disclosed this at the maiden edition of the Lagos Food Security and Exhibition Summit with the theme, “Actualizing Sustainable Food Security in Lagos state: ANew Comprehensive Agenda.”

The Governor said, “Our core policy thrust toward achieving food security is to maximize the comparative advantage of the state in agriculture and establish partnership with other states of the federation with comparative advantage in specific areas.”

Listing some areas of collaboration the governor said his administration has sealed a landmark partnership with the Kebbi state government for the development of agricultural commodities such as rice, wheat, onion, maize and many others.

He also disclosed that Lagos state has acquired land in other neighbouring states to help boost farming.

The governor encouraged everyone to key into agriculture especially in the wake of the economic recession because it will aid maximum production of food.
