A man known as Adeyinka Badejo has committed suicide in Abuja over a debt of N25,000 he owed a bank.

The 35-year-old father of two was said to have killed himself by hanging on Tuesday.

Badejo, of Kubwa satellite town in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, allegedly borrowed N150,000 from a micro-finance bank in the FCT to finance his second-hand clothes business.

He was said to have paid N125,000 from the loan with the assistance of his younger brother, with N25,000 to balance up.

According to his younger brother, Emmanuel, who was interviewed by City News, Badejo once jokingly threatened to kill himself as a result of the pressure he was encountering from the bank to pay back the balance.

Emmanuel stated that he could have done something to prevent the terrible incident if he only knew his elder brother was serious.

Badejo’s wife, Grace, was said to have rushed him to the Kubwa General Hospital where he was confirmed dead, after she found his body dangling in their sitting room and brought him down.
