The Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa, has described the clash between the entourage of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, and Shi’ite muslims in Zaria as an unfortunate incident, stating that the Army chief did all he could to save the situation.

According to the monarch, being a humble and well-trained leader, Buratai did all he could to persuade the Shi’ites who were on a procession to allow him pass.

He said this in an interview with the Voice of Nigeria in his palace in the Adamawa state capital, Yola on Thursday.

However, the royal father called on the Federal Government to investigate the matter with the aim of preventing a recurrence of such ugly incident in the future.

In the same vein, the Lamido said the military was winning the war on terror in the Northeast as Boko Haram insurgency has been on the back foot in recent times.

While stating that Boko Haram activities in the state were almost non-existent, he praised the troops for their courage, devotion to duty, patriotism and passion to rid to the region of the Boko Haram scourge.

Furthermore, he urged residents of the state to be vigilant as the insurgents could resort to hitting soft targets seeing that they were losing in head-on collision with the military.

Also he appealed to government at all levels to assist persons displaced by the six-year insurgency so as to get their lives back together.
