News of Janet Jackson’s marriage to billionaire boyfriend, Wissam Al Mana, was as much of a surprise to the Jackson family as it was to the rest of the world, says big sis La Toya Jackson.
In an upcoming episode of her U.S. show Life with Latoya, she says, “I didn’t know Jan was married until I heard about it through the media. Most of the family members, no one really knew. You would be surprised how you find out things through the media.”
Asked if finding out through the media bothered her, Jackson said it didn’t seem odd. “I know that in my family a lot of times you keep things private because you don’t want anybody to know,” she explained. “Nobody knew, really. I have not met him at all.”
This is marriage number three for Janet, whose union with fellow singer James DeBarge was annulled in 1985. In 1991, she married dancer, songwriter and director Rene Elizondo Jr. , but they kept their relationship a secret until their divorce in 2000.
