Majestic Messi Inspires Barca Draw After 2-0 Sevilla Lead

1 Min Read

A superb second half performance from half-fit Lionel Messi ensured that Barcelona grabbed a 2-2 draw at Sevilla on Saturday night.

Messi, who missed out of Argentina’s 6-1 loss to Spain earlier in the week due to a hamstring problem, grabbed a late equaliser against Sevilla with a powerful low shot front outside the box.

Barcelona were trailing 2-0 when coach Ernesto Valverde brought on Messi for Ousmane Dembele in the 58th minute.

The introduction of the diminutive 30-year-old ensured Barcelona wrested dominance from Sevilla who were having a field day running Barca ragged.

A goal each from Franco Vasquez and Luis Muriel had put the home side in the lead in the 36th and 50th minutes respectively, but an 88th-minute strike from Luis Suarez and another 89th-minute goal from the substitute Messi ensured the visitors went home with a share of the spoil.
