Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode’s decision to organise a World Press Conference a day to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in the state has sharply divided many Nigerians on social media.

Many commentators that took to Twitter hailed the governor for finally standing up for himself while others accused him of employing “cheap tactics” against his detractors.

Recall that the 22-member Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), the highest decision-making body in the Lagos APC, had yesterday endorsed Akinwunmi’s main challenger, Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the governorship candidate of the party ahead of the primaries.
