How man murdered policeman in Benue

A Magistrates’ Court in Benue on Friday, remanded one  Dio Edoka, 37,  who  allegedly killed a Sgt. Julius Anyebe, pending legal advice from the Office of the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Edoka, who live in Orido village in Otukpa, Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue, is charged with Culpable Homicide punishable under Section 222 of the Penal Code Laws of Benue, 2004.

Magistrate Regina Ochokwunu, gave the order, because the plea of Edoka was not taken, for lack of jurisdiction.

Prosecutor, Sgt. Regina Ishaya told the court that the case was transferred from the Ogbadibo Police Headquarter to the state CIID, Makurdi via a letter dated Dec 12.

He said one Simon Anyebe of Aikwu-Otukpa in Ogbadibo, reported the case on Dec 9, 2018 at the Otuka Police Station.

Ishaya said the complainant, who is a brother to the deceased told the police that the accused person took his brother to a burial venue at Ipole-Otukpa on Dec 7, 2018.

He said that that was the last time the family will see their brother alive.

Ishaya said that during a search called for by the family on Dec 9, they found the remains of their brother.

The prosecutor said that the accused person was arrested in connection with the crime. (NAN)
