The Federal Government has ordered relevant agencies to commence payment of February salary to enable workers wishing to travel for the presidential and national assembly elections on Saturday, February 23, to do so.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, disclosed this as one of the outcomes of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday.

The meeting, which held at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, was led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Although Federal Government workers usually received their salaries between 25th and 30th of every month, Mohammed said that FEC had ordered that payment should commence on February 19th because of the forthcoming election.

“On the part of the Federal Government also, we decided that to make it easy for those who will want to go back to vote , salary payment started yesterday ( Tuesday ) as opposed to the normal 25th of every month.

“This is just to ease the burden of people who want to go back and cast their vote,’’ Mohammed said.
