A Customary Court sitting in Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State capital, has dissolved the 43-year-old marriage between Rauf Olayiwola and his wife, Mojisola, over alleged incest.
Olayiwola and Mojisola had been married since 1971 and blessed with five children.
According to the court president, Mr Ezekiel Ogundipe, all attempts at reconciling the couple had failed while the only option left was to allow each of them live separately.
“Olayiwola shall therefore pay Mojisola’s house rent for the next one year where her children can always have access to her,” Ogundipe stated.
According to the judge, Olayiwola is to carry out the court’s order on house rent not later than 30 days of the judgment.
Olayiwola had earlier accused Mojisola of having incestuous relationship with her children.
“I sometimes see her in bed with some of our children, kissing and carressing.
“She no longer takes instructions from me.
“In fact, she has succeeded in turning the children against me,” he alleged.
Mojisola, however, dismissed Olayiwola’s allegations, saying she has a close relationship with her children.
“The children are close to me because I treat them well and not that I have any sexual relationship with them,” she stated.
She, however, prayed the court not to dissolve the marriage because she had nowhere to go.
