Apple is apparently tracking all iPhones stolen from its retail stores amid George Floyd Protests in the country.
Following the death of George Floyd, America has gone into a state of unrest as its citizens have taken to the streets to protest police brutality as well as racism.
However, opportunists have taken advantage of the unrest to loot stores and steal goods. A few days ago, a video surfaced of looters breaking into Nike retail stores and stealing items.
Apple stores were looted, damaged in Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Philadelphia, with looters stealing whatever products were accessible at the time.
However, Apple apparently has a built in technology that disables a device when it is taken illegally from a store. Once a device is stolen, a message is sent to the phone which says: “This device has been disabled and is being tracked. Local authorities will be alerted.”

Apple has taken step after step to try to render its devices worthless once taken, including the “Find My” iPhone software that enables users to track down an iPhone. “If your device goes missing,” Apple says “put it in Lost Mode to lock it immediately and start tracking its location.”
