Former deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and former Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Obadiah Mailaifa has revealed that he has been invited for a third time by the Department of State Security (DSS) for his Boko Haram statements.

Dr. Malaifa had already been invited twice by the DSS and is currently under investigation by the Police for stating that a currently serving State Governor was a Boko Haram Commander during a radio interview. Mailaifa said during the interview that a repentant Boko Haram fighter had given him the information.

He had also alleged that terrorists moved weapons during the lockdown and infiltrated other cities. He was forced to recant on his allegations after the first two invitations by DSS, saying he got the information from a third party.

Shortly after, the first two invitations, the police also extended an invitation which Dr. Mailaifa refused to honour. Instead he approached a High Court in Plateau State to prevent the police from arresting him.

In the latest development, Dr. Malaifa confirmed to a major Newspaper that he has indeed been issued a third invitation by the DSS. He alleged that there was a push from the Federal Government for him to be arraigned in court over his utterance.

Mailaifa stated that it was unfortunate that the Police and DSS were on his neck at the same time.

“This is one of the reasons why I am in court. I am being invited by the DSS and the police at the same time. It is an abuse of my rights.” The former CBN Chief said.
