Benue Governor, Ortom Inaugurates 12 New Permanent Secretaries

 Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue on Thursday inaugurated 12 new Permanent Secretaries (PS) and urged them be selfless in service delivery  for the development of the State.

Inaugurating the Permanent Secretaries in Makurdi, Ortom charged them to work in accordance with the Civil Service rules and not to betray the trust resposed in them.

He said that the Permanent Secretaries were appointed based on their career, other relevant qualification, discipline and commitiment to duty.

He added that the appointments which were reward for excellence in service also reflected fair    representation.

According to the governor, with the inauguration of the new appointees,  the state now has a total of 23 Permanent Secretaries comprising Seven from zone A, with Zone B and C having Eight each.

Ortom urged the PS to respect the oath they took as it was a commitment and contract between them, the State and God.

“You have been chosen out of many others that are qualified for this appointment because we believe that you will live up to the expectations of your office as well as stand out as role models.

” It is our hope that you will not betray this trust. Therefore, you should be guided by the fact that to whom much is given much is expected.

“Your loyalty and total commitment to duty and adherence to our philosophy of total abhorrence for corruption, indiscipline and all the negative tendencies that weigh the State down must be your guiding principles,” Ortom added.

Speaking on behalf of the new PS, Mr Apir-Ityu Ayaka, assured that they would strive to give their best to improve the State Civil Service.

Those inaugurated included: Apir-Ityu Ayaka, Stephen Abagi, Samuel Orchir, John Umoor and Felicia Alubo.

Others are: Rhoda Gum, Chia Ikuluke, Stephen Adah , John Akume, Margaret lkpe, Frank Usa Adi and Tor Moses Leva .
