2 brothers in court for allegedly inflicting injuries on neighbor with hot burner

Two brothers, who allegedly used hot stove burner to inflict injuries on their neighbour , were on Thursday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

The accused persons, Wasiu Onifade, 43, and Basit Onifade,18, residing at No. 8, Yekini Olugoke St., Off Oniwaya, Dopemu, Agege, Lagos, are facing a two-count charge, bordering on assault and conspiracy.

The accused persons, however, denied committing the offences.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Adetutu Salusi, told the court that the accused persons committed the alleged offences on March 26, at the above address.

He said the duo used a hot burner to inflict injury on the complainant, Latifat Sadiq, because she used a bucket to hit one of them on his private part unknowingly.

The duo descended on her by inflicting serious injuries all over her body .

The offences contravened Sections 173 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).‎‎

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 173 stipulates a three- year jail term for offenders.‎

The magistrate, Mrs Y.O. Ekogbulu , granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N100, 000 each, with two sureties each, in like sum, and adjourned the case until April 18 for mention. (NAN)
