President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly been threatened with impeachment by Nigerian senators.

It was revealed that a closed door meeting on Tuesday, July 12, the senators made their threats about the president known over the Senate forgery allegations scandal.

The Upper chambers reportedly resolved that there was no case of forgery of the Standing Orders and asked that those involved should withdraw the case from the court.

A source further revealed that there had been a series of meetings at the home of Senator Aliyu Wamakko (APC, Sokoto) to plot a total onslaught on President Buhari in the coming days, Sahara Reporters reports.

It was also disclosed that the Senators believed to be behind the current forgery trial were threatened with suspension.

A senator who spoke with Vanguard said that the mood of the Senate was for the suspension of those senators.

He added that the upper chambers planned to prove the supremacy of the legislature as well as teach the presidency and the executive a lesson that the National Assembly and the Senate in particular be left to carry out its legislative duties effectively without any interference.
