There was much excitement earlier this week as the British sent a Royal AirForce Plane to help locate local and international teams that are scanning the region looking for the over 200 girls abducted by Boko Haram last month.

The Sentinel R1 which is a modified executive business jet developed a fault mid-air and was forced to divert to Senegal in order to address “technical issues”.

The plane was enroute to Accra, Ghana where it will be stationed whilst flying across Northern Nigeria.

An RAF source said: “We had a choice of turning around and coming home, or landing en route.”
