Ikeja Electric Set to Distribute Free Meters to Customers

Ikeja Electric has said it is investing $100m in smart pre-paid meters to be distributed to its customers free starting from June.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ikeja Electric, Mr. Abiodun Ajifowobaje in an interview with The Punch said over the next three years, smart meters that suit the Nigerian environment would be rolled out to customers.

He said starting in May, there would be a pilot scheme which is about 2,000 meters, then the meters would be rolled out massively with 5,000 and every month, 12,000 to 15,000 meters would be installed.
