Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has lambasted Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, for attempting to justify a statement by President Muhammadu Buhari that Nigerian youths are lazy.

Buhari had on Wednesday said at a Commonwealth Business Forum in London that many Nigerian youths, who constitute 60 percent of the nation’s population, were uneducated but sit down and do nothing while expecting everything for free.

The statement, which has since gone viral, drew widespread condemnation from Nigerians, both home and abroad.

But defending his principal’s statement on Thursday, Adesina said that the president meant that many, not all, Nigerian youths are lazy.

However, Fani-Kayode advised the presidential aide to keep quiet if he has nothing more meaningful to say.

‘”Buhari said a lot of Nigerian youths, not all, are lazy”- Femi Adesina. At this point I am constrained to advise my aburo Femi Adesina to keep his very dirty and smelly mouth shut! Do not compound your principal’s gratutious insult on our youth with a second one from you,” Fani-Kayode said via his Twitter handle on Friday afternoon.
