Nigerian Stock Exchange Down By 0.01%

Trade picked up on the floor of the exchange today, but the despite careful optimism the All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange lost 0.01% today compared to a 0.07% loss recorded yesterday. The All Share Index depreciated by 2 basis points to end the day at 29,030.97 basis points.  Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N9.97 Trillion.

The total of number of deals recorded on the floor of the local bourse moved from 3,074 to 3,804 today a 23.7% increase; the total volume of shares traded on the floor  were 295,225,557 while the total value of transactions recorded today were N5 Billion.

GUINNESS led the gainers chart for the third day in a row adding N6.82 to end the day with a share price of N143.24, followed by INTBREW and JBERGER which gained N0.75 and N0.69 to close at N16 and N39.50 respectively; STANBIC and OANDO added N0.41 and N0.38 to close at N20.26 and N7.36 respectively.

The Losers chart was led by UNILEVER who lost N1.75 to close at N31.43, followed by OKOMUOIL and WAPCO who lost N1.38 and N1 to close with share prices of N28.82 and N95 respectively; NB and FLOURMILL lost N0.94 and N0.4 to close with share prices of N135.06 and N21.80 respectively.

The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were ZENITHBANK with 62,281,746 shares valued at N1.9 Billion, TRANSCORP with 35,896,437 shares valued at N60 Million, UBA with 32,218,714 shares valued at N112 Million, CONTINSURE with 30,430,300 shares valued at N30 Million and ACCESS with 21,767,108 shares valued at N97 Million; a combined total of 182 million shares traded.

The NSE 30 Index appreciated by 0.05%, the Insurance Index went up by 0.65%, the Oil and Gas Index also appreciated by 0.63%. The Banking index depreciated by 0.14%, the Consumer Goods index went down by 0.14%, the Lotus index lost 0.5% and the Industrial index dipped by 0.46%.

Market breadth closed negative as GUINNESS led 19 Gainers against 24 Losers led by UNILEVER.

Year-To-Date currently stands at -16.23%.
