$2.1bn Arms Deal: EFCC Traces N400m To Army Officer’s Account

1 Min Read

As the probe into how $2.1 billion meant for arms procurement was disbursed continues, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has uncovered the sum of N400 million which was traced to a third-generation bank account.

It was gathered that the sum was obtained from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) under Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

According to Vanguard, a source in the EFCC said the account had already been frozen and the affected Army officer will soon be invited for questioning.

It was gathered that the EFCC was still keeping the officers names under wraps so as not alert him to the investigation into his activities.

Recall that the EFCC had forwarded a letter to the Defence Headquarters to release officers who may be affected by the anti-graft body’s investigations.

Also, an Army colonel who was on secondment to the ONSA and allegedly used his position as the PA to Dasuki to enrich himself from the arms deal funds had been cooling his feet at the commission’s headquarters since last December.
