2 brothers steal ATM card, transfer N.95m from victim’s account in Ogun

Two brothers, Lawal Durojaiye and Lukmon Durojaiye, on Friday appeared before an Abeokuta Magistrates court in Isabo, for allegedly stealing N950,000.

The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Lawrence Balogun, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Oct 10, 2020, at Lantern area of Abeokuta.

Balogun said Lukemon stole a GTB ATM card from the complainant, Mr Ebenezer Omobolanle, and transferred N950, 000 into Lawal’s account.

He said the police later traced and arrested the defendants.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mr Dehinde Dipeolu, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N300,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Dipeolu ordered that the sureties must provide evidence of one year’s tax payment to the Ogun government.

He adjourned the case until July 26 for mention. (NAN)
