The Nigerian Navy today arrested two suspected members of the infamous militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA). The two suspects are believed to be behind the attacks on Cheveron’s facilities sometime within May and June 2016. They have been identified as Stanley Toghan and Felix  Miyenminiye and paraded at the Warri Naval Base.

Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship Delta, Commodore Joseph Dzunve, said the suspects were behind series of attacks on oil and gas facilities especially in the Warri South West Council of the state.
“You are all aware of the recent series of attacks on oil and gas facilities in the Niger Delta and in particular Delta State for which some groups/persons have claimed responsibilities.

“Today, I am pleased to inform you that after persistent efforts, the Nigerian Navy Ship Delta, being part of the maritime component of the Operation Delta Safe, has arrested two suspects responsible for the attack on Chevron facilities, witnessed between May and July 2016, around Warri North axis of Delta state.”
Meanwhile, it was reported the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has  denied having any ties with the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) and the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA).
He disclosed this through his lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor while briefing newsmen in Abuja.

“Nnamdi Kanu is not opposed to political solution in resolving his present politically orchestrated ordeal as he welcomes genuine political solution to this case.
“In the past few days, the media was awash with news on negotiation going on between the federal government and the members of MEND where our client’s name, Nnamdi Kanu conspicuously featured.
“It is on the note that we need to inform the public that Nnamdi Kanu has no connection, contact, ties or any form of relationship with the members of the MEND.
“As such , MEND has no implied, direct or express authority of Nnamdi Kanu to represent him or independent people of Biafra (IPOB).

“In any purported negotiation, going on between MEND and the federal government. The general public is advised to ignore and disregard the falsehood being peddled by MEND. Nnamdi Kanu does not know them.”
