2023: Osinbajo, not riff-raffs or moneybags, should be APC presidential candidate – Babangida Aliyu

A former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, has described Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as the best candidate for the 2023 presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Aliyu stated this at the 2022 Annual Lecture of the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation held in Kano State on Tuesday, The Punch reported.

He noted that no “riff-raff or moneybags” get to the highest office in the land, even if they offer money in the 2023 election.

“Mr vice-president, do you know you are the best candidate in your party?” he asked, describing Osinbajo as the only candidate that knows the country and has wide acceptance, regardless of tribe and religion.

He reiterated that no riff-raff would be allowed to the get to highest office.

“No matter how much money he has, let him bring the money, we will collect it,” Aliyu stated.

Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage (Rtd) equally praised Osinbajo and promised the support of the people of Nasarawa State to enable him become Nigeria’s president in 2023.

“Mr Vice President, wherever you go, we will follow,” the monarch said.

Although the vice-president has not expressed any 2023 presidential ambition, there have been calls for him to contest.
