26 Nigerian U-17 Players Fail MRI Test, Starting Eleven In Shambles

The Nigerian U-17 team has been faced with a majr setback following the failure of 26 of its members to pass the mandatory MRI screening process required for the competition.

According to officials, 26 members of the Nigerian Golden Eaglets squad failed the mandatory MRI screening conducted last week as part of preparation for the weekend African Nations Cup (AFCON) qualifier against Niger.

The MRI screening was carried out on a total of 60 players from the Golden Eaglets team at the instance of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

According to africanFootball.com, a top official of he team disclosed that due to the recent development, several members of the team’s starting eleven will be excluded.

The official also noted that only two players on the team’s starting eleven passed the MRI test.

Another official lamented: “It is a disaster. Virtually the starting XI the coaches had been working on had been disqualified. It is a serious problem”.
