A man in Oyo State has been dragged before a Chief Magistrates’ Court for defiling a 5-year-old girl.
The 40-year-old Yemi Afolabi, whose residential address is unknown, was arraigned before Mrs M.A Akanni of the Iyangaku Chief Magistrates Court, on Thursday.
According to the prosecutor, Col. Isiaka Laaro, having a carnal knowledge of a minor contravenes section 218 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State.
He said the accused person committed the offence on April 24 at Ejioku Olode in the Igbo Elerin area of the state.
Furthermore, Laaro said the case had been forwarded to the Directorate of Public prosecutions (DPP) in the state for advice in compliance with the court’s directive.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs M.A Akanni went ahead to adjourn the case till November 15, but not before ordering that the accused be remanded in prison custody pending the DPP’s advice.
