ASUU leaders converge for secret meeting in Kano, may suspend strike next week

Leaders of the Academic Staff Union of Universities met at the Bayero University in Kano yesterday. The Herald had reported that they would meet yesterday earlier during the week.

The meeting was intended to review the position of the various university chapters of the Union concerning postponement or continuation of the industrial action.

Journalists were totally excluded from the meeting as its venue was made secret. Some indicators that the meeting took place were glaring as the cars of some members were spotted on the campus. In addition some anonymous sources confirmed the meeting, however they were stingy as regards providing details of what transpired.
