A 14-year-old boy, Ethan Sonneborn, met the requirements to be on the primary ballot for his state of Vermont and will be running for office
Speaking on his ambitions, young Sonneborn said: “I think Vermonters should take me seriously because I have practical progressive ideas, and I happen to be 14, not the other way around,”
He added: “I think that my message and my platform transcend age.”
Interestingly, Vermont does not have any age restrictions as to who can be Governor of the state, a situation that Sonneborn is taking advantage of to run for office.
The young man seeing this oversight by the state’s founders was able to get enough signatures to get him on the ballot
He also spoke of the frustrations that led him to run for office and how the Charlottesville, Virginia clashes pushed him to make this drastic move.

The young governorship aspirant’s financial report for the month of July showed that he was only able to raise $1,700 which would be unable to cover an election campaign, not when his peers will have thousands of dollars at their disposal.
Even if he doesn’t have much money, Ethan has been on the stage with Vermont’s other Democratic candidates.
The other 3 Democratic candidates for Vermont are not what one would call traditional politicians with Christine Hallquist, a transgender woman, James Ehlers, an environmentalist and Brenda Siegel, a dance festival organizer being the other people that Ethan Sonneborn will be up against.
The politically astute teenager is optimistic of his chances and believes that “if I can get one person who wasn’t involved in the political process before involved now, then my campaign will have been a success,”
Two Vermont lawmakers tried to make a law that required people running for office to be registered voters, but the bill died an early death.
