Natasha Akpoti, Kogi Governorship candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has narrated how her kinsmen called her ashawo* during an INEC organised stakeholders meeting.
*Ashawo is a Nigerian slang for prostitute
Natasha Akpoti in an interview with the BBC Pidgin broke down in tears as she narrated how her own people betrayed her.
The Kogi first female governorship candidate explained that she was attacked by hoodlums, political thugs on her way to the stakeholders meeting.
She alleged these thugs were sent by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to frustrate her efforts from contesting in the elections.
“Dem dey boo me, dey shout Ashawo, get out, get out!”
“I feel very bad o, I swear to God. Dem follow me comot the meeting. I come dey feel like criminal.”
