China suspends domestic Superleague due to outbreak of Coronavirus

China has suspended its domestic Superleague due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus which has now claimed 22 lives and spread to 16 different countries.

China Super League which features many ex-Premier League players including Yaya Toure, Marouane Fellaini, Oscar, Marco Anatovic and Salomon Rondon was due to run from 22 February to 31 October

Also, the men’s Alpine Skiing World Cup races in China scheduled from 15 to 16 February has been canceled.

Again the 2020 World Athletics indoor championships due to be held from 13 to 15 of March in Nanjing I’ve been pushed back 12 months after what Athletics Association received advice from the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Formula 1 says its monitoring the effect of the outbreak in China in the context of the country’s Grand Prix in Shanghai from 17 to 19th April.

The all-electric Formula E series was due to be held in Sanya, south China on 21 March and Formula E says its also closely monitoring the situation in Tandem with local authorities.

In a statement, the China Football Association said the move to postpone the 2020 National Football competition at all levels was taken to help with the prevention and control of the pneumonia epidemic of the new coronavirus infection to protect the health of the majority of fans, Media, Players, and coaches.

China women football team in Australia is being forced into quarantine at a hotel in Brisbane, Queensland after the state recorded its first case of Coronavirus.

A 44-year old man from Wuhan City at the centre of the Outbreak is being kept in isolation at the Gold Coast University Hospital south Brisbane.

The team was due to open the Olympic football tournament qualifiers with a match against Thailand in Sydney on Monday.

The death toll of the coronavirus has reached 170 with confirmed cases showing that the virus has now spread to every region in mainland China.

Chinese authorities have said there were 7711 confirmed cases in the country as of 29 January and infections have also spread to at least 16 other countries.
