Obaseki: Edo state has spent over N1billion to fight COVID-19

Godwin Obaseki, Executive Governor of Edo state has disclosed how his administration spent over N1 billlion to combat Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the state.

Obaseki made the disclosure while addressing newsmen at the COVID-19 live briefing convened by the State Response Team.

He reiterated the commitment of his administration to curtail the spread of the virus in Edo state

“The government of Edo State is leading this battle from the front. We have already spent over N1billion of our limited resources so far on this fight.

“We have constituted the Edo State Fund-Raising Committee which is made up of our sons and daughters who are captains of industries, religious leaders, traditional rulers to help us galvanise efforts at mobilizing resources to beef up the state government’s response to this pandemic,”

Obaseki called on illustrious sons of the soil and Associations to donate towards the cause of eradicating the virus in the state.

The Governor announced a Dusk to Dawn curfew (7pm to 6am) which would take effect Monday, April 20 in order to mitigate the spread of the deadly virus.

Gov Obaseki enjoined citizens to adhere to the social distancing rule and maintain good hygiene by washing hands regularly.
