Ondo 2020: PDP Disqualifies Two Governorship Aspirants

Reports from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) indicate that the screening panel led by former Speaker, Yakubu Dogara has disqualified two of the nine candidates vying for the party’s flag in the October 10 gubernatorial election in Ondo State.

The screening panel declared that the two aspirants were unfit to contest for the party’s flag at the Ondo 2020 election although it declined to identify the disqualified persons.

The persons vying to represent the party include; the recently decamped deputy governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi, Hon. Banji Okunomo, Dr. Eddy Olafeso, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, Prince Goddy Erewa, Chief Olusola Ebiseni, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), Dr. Bode Ayorinde, and Senator Boluwaji Kunlere.

A report from Vanguard stated that the disqualified candidates were from the Southern Senatorial District of Ondo State. It also stated that the cleared aspirants have been given their clearance certificates as confirmed by Hon. Banji Okunomo, one of the contestants.

Former speaker Dogara said that the disqualified aspirants were free to appeal the decision of the committee on Monday.
