The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied reports that it invited two musicians, Tiwa Savage and Michael Collins Ajereh aka Don Jazzy, for questioning.

The rebuttal came following a viral online report on Tuesday which claimed that the duo was invited by the secret police two weeks ago over their social media activism.

According to the report, the musicians were warned to discontinue their attack on President Muhammadu Buhari’s government on social media.

The musicians were said to have scaled back their political comments since the purported invitation.

However, The Nation quoted spokesman for the DSS, Dr. Peter Afunanya as saying that the service did not invite any musician.

Also, the report had wrongly identified the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State as Zubairu Muazu when the duo was purportedly invited two weeks ago.

But Muazu ceased to be Lagos State Police Commissioner in November 2019, when he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).

He was immediately replaced at the Lagos State Police Command by CP Hakeem Odumosu.

However, Tiwa Savage and Don Jazzy have yet to confirm or deny that they were invited by the DSS.

But Don Jazzy released a short playful video mocking the headline of the said online report.

He asked: “Alaye shalaye meaning quizzes jor?” (Could you explain the meaning of “quizzes” please?)
