APC needs 32 years in power to improve lives of Nigerians – Buni

The Chairman, National Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mai Mala Buni, says the party is working to hold on to power for the next 32 years.

Buni stated this on Tuesday while inaugurating the party’s 61-member Contact and Strategy Committee, at the APC National Secretariat, in Abuja.

He said the 32 years – amounting to eight four-year terms – would enable the party to consolidate on the dividends of democracy it has been providing for Nigerians since assuming power in 2015.

According to him, the newly-inaugurated committee chaired by Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru has the mandate of mapping out strategies to actualise the objective.

Buni, who is also the Yobe State Governor, said that the party under his watch has achieved a lot in terms of reconciling party members and attracting new members.

“The constitution of the strategy and contact committee, therefore, is to consolidate the achievements we are making in building a strong party with a solid structure that would accomplish APC to stand the test of time,” he said.

“Our vision is to provide a wheel that will drive the party to go beyond sixth, seventh and even eighth term of office to effectively implement the party manifesto, improve the lives of Nigerians and, to remain Nigeria’s leading political party.

“This committee is therefore very key to our process of transition towards successful congresses and national convention and, to establish a very solid, reputable and reliable future for the party,” Buni said.
