JUST IN: Army, Police, Others Barricade Venue Of Yoruba Nation Rally In Lagos

1 Min Read

Security agencies have barricaded the Gani Fawehinmi Park venue of the rally called by embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho and Prof. Banji Akintoye-led Ilana Omo Oodua.

Men of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), among other security agencies stationed themselves on either side of the road leading to the park and at its entrance.

A Facebook Live video by TheCable showed that protesters had not arrived at the venue as of 9:13 am, although the rally was scheduled to kick off at 9 am.

Pedestrians and motorists can be seen moving freely without any incident.

Recall that Igboho’s media aide, Olayomi Koiki had stated that the rally would go on as planned, despite a warning from the Lagos State Police Command that it was not permitted.

The command had embarked on a show of force hours before the rally was due to commence to scare off the protesters.
