Pronouns: Elon Musk attacks Fauci on Twitter

3 Min Read

Elon Musk has taken to his verified Twitter handle to demand the arrest and prosecution of Dr. Anthony Fauci.

In a short tweet, Twitter’s new owner stated, “My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci.”

Musk had previously targeted the doctor with a tweet that included a humorous image (meme).

Anthony Fauci is an American physician-scientist and immunologist who currently serves as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the president’s chief medical advisor.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the medical advisor advocated for people to get vaccinated and wear masks, but he has come under fire from conservatives and conspiracy theorists for the restrictions and medical advice he provided.

Response

Matt Wallace responded to Elon Musk’s tweet, he said “Fauci purposefully and admittedly lied about multiple things because he thought it was for the greater good. It wasn’t.

“All he did was drastically decrease trust for public health officials going forward and implement many policies/mandates that caused more harm than good.”

Another Twitter user, Paul Zismo said that “It is wrong & dangerous to demonize a Dr. who has dedicated his life to researching & treating Infectious Diseases to SAVE LIVES! Dr. Fauci is a world-renowned Infectious Disease Dr. and Covid is a deadly Infectious Disease that has killed over 1 million Americans. Shame on you.

“You want to prosecute a world renowned Infectious Disease Medical Dr. who has served under 5 Presidents to save lives in America & worldwide?

“But you’re OK with a seditious treasonous criminal that executed 1/6 Capitol attack to overthrow U.S Gov.? My pronouns are Prosecute/Trump.”

Senator Rand Paul, a Kentucky Republican who has had several public spats with Fauci, previously promised to conduct “a full-throated investigation into the origins of the pandemic” regardless of the doctor’s impending retirement at the end of this month. Republican Representatives James Comer and Jim Jordan have accused Fauci of “hiding information” about the origins of the COVID-19.

Former CIA Director and Obama White House official John Brennan expressed his displeasure with Musk’s tweet, “Dr. Fauci is a national hero who will be remembered for generations to come for his innate goodness & many contributions to public health. Despite your business success, you will be remembered most for fueling public hate & divisions. You may have money, but you have no class.”

Another user tweeted “Elon Musk wants to criminalize Anthony Fauci because he disagrees with him. Elon is no champion of free speech.”
