Dr Umar Johnson speaks on Dwayne Wade’s son’s transgender label

American psychologist, Dr. Umar Johnson has faulted former NBA star, Dwayne Wade’s decision to support 15-year-old son, Zaya’s name and gender change.

Zaya, who is Wade’s son with ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches, first came out as transgender aged 12.

Wade and his ex-wife have been in court since August 2022 when he filed a petition for Zaya to legally change name and gender.

Two months later, in November, Funches-Wade submitted court documents objecting to the change, alleging that the former NBA star is “positioned to profit” from the name and gender change and expressing concerns that he “may be pressuring” Zaya for financial gain.

According to TMZ Sports, Wade said in court filings in November that it was in transgender Zaya’s “best interests” for his ex-wife to support the name and gender change.

However, Johnson, who specializes in working with the parents of African-American children who receive special education and/or are diagnosed with disruptive behavior disorders, emphasized that a child could not be certain of their sexual orientation at 11 or 12 years old, noting that it would a totally different conversation if the child was 17.

“I’ve always been a fan of Dwayne Wade but when that happened…

“His son’s 12, that is pre-puberty/puberty. That’s the age you start finding yourself attractive to girls. But for the life of me, I’m trying to understand how an 11, 12-year-old black boy is already certain that he is gay. That is not a natural human phenomenon.

“How can your son be certain at 12 that he is gay? That is the conversation I would love to have with Dwayne Wade,” Johnson, who holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, said on a recent podcast.

He added that a 12-year-old child does not have a fixed identity or personality yet.

“What in the hell is going on,” Johnson asked.

He explained that many people were afraid of the LGBTQ+ community’s organized power, and go along with their shenanigans not necessarily because they agreed with them but to avoid being canceled.

“The point I’m making is that the LGBTQ+ Army, which is a CIA creation (this campaign is), is dictating to the black community how we act and react,” Johnson noted.

According to him, no black church 50 years ago would support any LGBTQ+ agenda.

“But now, show me anyone that is against it,” he stated before going on to explain himself.

“If you are a tax-exempt organization getting federal funds and you say you don’t support this, they will cut your money. It is about money.

“Unfortunately, we care more about our pockets than our principles so everybody black who is trying to get paid is co-signing that even though it is working against the community because they don’t want to stop the cash flow.”
