‘Abducted’ pastor confesses to counterfeiting, begs for forgiveness

Pastor Godson Akubuiro, the General Overseeer of Mountain of Breakthrough Deliverance Ministry has confessed to being an alleged counterfeiting mastermind.

The Pastor was arrested from his Ikorodu home by members of the State Security Service from Kogi State. The commando style operation which also saw the arrest of six of his children happened in a manner whereby the public initially thought the man was kidnapped.

Kogi State Director of State Security Service (SSS) Mike Fubara said the investigation into Akubuiro’s activities had been ongoing for close to four months.

He said, “the worrisome fake naira currency in circulation in Kogi state led to the mission to uncover those behind the act’’.

‘’This operation took the service close to four months before a breakthrough resulting in the arrest of the 16-man syndicate led by Rev. Godson O. Akubuiro,” he said

Authorities recovered counterfeiting equipment and counterfeit notes worth about N1.3 million.

Akubuiro who hails from Imo admitted to the crime as journalists interviewed him. He said he had been into the illicit business since November 2012, and that the proceeds of the crime were used to help the less privileged in the church.

He sought for justice to be tempered with mercy, saying men of God were often tempted, citing King David of Biblical fame.
