AFCON 2023: President Tinubu will watch final in Abidjan – CAF boss

Nigeria’s president, Bola Tinubu will be in the stadium to watch the final of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 in Cote d’Ivoire.

President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe disclosed this in a Friday press conference at the Palace de la Culture in Trechville, Abidjan.

Vice President Kashim Shettima was in the stadium in Bouake to watch the Super Eagles of Nigeria defeat Bafana Bafana of South Africa 4-2 on penalties on Wednesday night.

On Sunday, the nation’s number one citizen will be in the stadium, the CAF president stated.

Motsepe, whose nation South Africa hosted the World Cup in 2010, was asked when Africa could host the mundial again.

He said, “Nigeria must put in a bid. The Nigerian president (Bola Tinubu) is coming to watch the final on Sunday. I will have a conversation with him about it.”
