Guy Whittall will now forever check under his bed for monsters after waking up to find an 8-foot crocodile sleeping inches from his head.
CATERS NEWS AGENCY: Whittall said crocodiles are experts at hiding — which is why they have survived on Earth for so long.
The former test cricketer went to sleep at his room in Humani Lodge, Zimbabwe, blissfully unaware that the 330-pound beast had joined him for a nap.
CATERS NEWS AGENCY: Wittall, a former test cricketer, was having breakfast when a housemaid screamed — letting him know how close to danger he had been.
The Nile croc spent more than eight hours hiding just beneath the 40-year-old — even remaining deadly still as he dangled his feet over the bed’s edge the following morning.
CATERS NEWS AGENCY: The beast lay in wait as an unsuspecting Whittall went about his day.
It was only when Whittall was having breakfast in the kitchen that he heard a housemaid screaming.
Sprinting back to his room, he was stunned to see the snappy attacker catching a sly 40 winks.
CATERS NEWS AGENCY: Workers drag the croc outside to release him at a nearby damn.
“Crocodiles are experts at hiding, that’s why they have survived on Earth for so long and why they are the ultimate killers in water,” he told the Daily Star.
Whittall, a director at the lodge, called in co-workers to capture the intruder and release him back into a nearby damn.
“Of course he resisted being roped and hauled out from under the bed, that’s only natural,” he added, saying: “I just remember thinking ‘goodness gracious, that’s one for the books. ‘”
