In a recent revelation on the Doyin’s Corner podcast, former Big Brother Naija star, Alexandra Asogwa, popularly known as Alex Unusual, shared the emotional toll of losing an endorsement deal following false allegations made against her by the controversial blog GistLover.
The incident dates back to 2021 when GistLover made unsubstantiated claims, accusing Alex of engaging in affairs with married men, including comedian AY, and further alleging a romantic involvement between her and her stylist, Medlin Boss. Despite Alex vehemently denying the allegations and challenging GistLover to provide evidence, the damage had already been done.
During the podcast, Alex disclosed the significant impact of the scandal on her professional life. The false accusations not only tarnished her reputation but also led to the loss of an endorsement deal that she had already secured with a school for her Unusual Fest event.
Recounting the ordeal, Alex expressed her frustration, stating, “The school had sent me a message to say that they had canceled the deal that we already concluded on. And it hurt me. That was the first time I ever put out anything to debunk allegations.”
She highlighted the internal conflict she faced, balancing the desire to protect her brand and the necessity to address the false claims. Alex emphasized that her decision to speak out was driven by a commitment to the anti-bullying event she was organizing, which aimed to teach children when to stand up for themselves.
