The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Wednesday apprehended two officers of the Nigeria Air Force over dehumanizing treatment meted out to an artisan in the Mile 12 area of the state.

The Airforce cadets identified as Peters Solomon and Abdullahi Fahad, reportedly locked the artisan identified as Dahiru Lawal in the booth of their car for breaking the windscreen of a car.

It was gathered that the car was a Chrysler car with registration number KRD 267 DV.

Also, the cadets attached to the Airforce Base in Ikeja reportedly dragged the victim on the floor before deciding to lock him in the booth of the car.

Governor Ambode reportedly became involved when he saw the young man gasping for breath, when he (the governor) was returning from a function that held around the area.

Condemning the act as dastardly, Ambode queried the rationale behind mercilessly maltreating a defenceless man just for breaking a windscreen of a vehicle.

He then directed that the cadets be arrested and handed over to the police for investigation, adding that they should be prosecuted if found wanting.

The governor also sounded a note of warning to other law enforcement agents in the state to avoid seeing themselves as above the law of the land.

In their defence, the cadets said they did not lock the booth of the car, although they admitted putting the victim inside it.
