Ambode/Sanwo-Olu: Buhari and Tinubu Meet in Clandestine Meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari met with APC Chieftain Bola Tinubu yesterday ahead of the APC primaries slated to hold today, 2nd October, 2018.

According to the Punch, the meeting which took place at the Aso Villa was without the presence of Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.

Tensions have been high between Tinubu and Ambode with the former endorsing another candidate, Jide Sanwo-Olu to take over as governor next year while Ambode is seeking reelection.

According to the Punch, a source of theirs confirmed the meeting but claimed not to know what it was about.

“There was a meeting. But I don’t know what the meeting was about,” said the source.

Another source of the Punch also confirmed the meeting, but claimed that the meeting did nothing to quell the beef between the two men with Tinubu still reported to be firmly behind Sanwo-Olu.

“You know that Asiwaju meets regularly with the President. They discuss party and the nation’s matters regularly. So there is nothing unusual about this meeting.”

As for whether there was any resolution, the source said: “What issue will be resolved when tomorrow (Tuesday) is primary?

“There is nothing to resolve. The people will elect their candidate at the primary on Tuesday.

“Asiwaju is back in Lagos from Abuja. Everybody is preparing for the primary.”
