No fewer than three persons have lost their lives after a speeding ambulance rammed into them in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

The black-coloured Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) used for ambulance services was said to have lost control in front of Dacoo Petrol Station at Umuafukwu/Umuagwa village, along Ikot Ekpene Road, Obingwa LGA, ramming into some tricycles and motorcycles.

Three persons were killed and many more injured in the freak accident, Daily Post reported.

Despite the accident, the driver of the ambulance reportedly sped on before running into a nearby bush where his vehicle finally came to a halt, raising suspicion that he might be drunk.

The accident was said to have caused confusion in the village, where sympathisers and other on-lookers wept profusely over the lives lost.

This is just as injured persons were whisked to nearby hospitals for medical attention.

The Abia State Police Command has not confirmed the development.
