Jeffrey Toobin, who lost his 27-year job at The New Yorker for masturbating during an official video call, has reacted to his ordeal.

The journalist and lawyer reacted in a tweet on Wednesday evening, saying he would always love the magazine and miss his co-workers.

“I was fired today by @NewYorker after 27 years as a Staff Writer.

“I will always love the magazine, will miss my colleagues, and will look forward to reading their work,” Toobin wrote on Wednesday.

The 60-year-old writer and legal analyst was suspended last month for exposing himself during a zoom meeting between magazine staffers and WNYC radio staffers.

The company also ordered an investigation into the incident.

But he described the incident as an “embarrassingly stupid mistake”, saying he thought he had muted his video feed.

“I believed I was not visible on Zoom.

“I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video,” stated.

Responding to an enquiry Thursday, The New Yorker told NBCNews that the 60-year-old “Jeffrey Toobin is no longer affiliated with the company” as a result of the investigation.
