Amotekun arrests 3 ‘herdsmen’ for kidnapping in Ondo

The Amotekun Corps in Ondo State has arrested three suspected herdsmen in connection with the abduction of one Mr. Kunle Agbayewa.

The suspects were said to have trailed the victim to a sawmill in Ido Ani, Ose Local Government Area of the state, and held him at gunpoint before whisking him away to an undisclosed location.

Confirming the abduction, the Commander of Amotekun Corps in the state, Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, noted that Agbayewa was rescued hours after his ordeal.

He added that the suspects were apprehended and handed over to the police for further investigation.

“Our men led the police and soldiers to rescue the victim shortly after we heard the news of his kidnap. After foiling their kidnap plot, we arrested the three men before handing them over to the police. They have begun giving confessional statements,” Adeleye said.

The Punch quoted a resident of the area, Comfort Ilesanmi as saying that the three suspects were herdsmen seen roaming the streets.

She disclosed that residents of the town who witnessed the abduction raised the alarm and alerted security personnel, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
