The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) says a new commander has been appointed as a replacement for slain Commander of Eastern Security Network (ESN), Ikonson Commander.

Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful disclosed this while appearing on Channels Television‘s Sunday Politics.

Recall that the Ikonson Commander was slain by a joint team of Nigerian Army, police and DSS personnel on Saturday.

Six lieutenants of the Ikonson Commander were also slain in the operation undertaken in Awomama, Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State.

Reacting, the IPOB said the military wing of the group now has a new commander.

The new commander, whose name was not given, was appointed barely 24 hours after his predecessor’s killing.

Powerful stated that neither ESN nor IPOB attacked Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma’s home in Omuma, Oru East LGA of the state.

“ESN are not the ones that attacked Uzodinma’s house. They cannot come for an operation and tell you they are ESN,” he stated.

He further disclosed that ESN’s mandate was to chase violent Fulani herdsmen from the South-East geopolitical zone.

Powerful mocked Ebube Agu, the new regional security outfit created by the South-East governors, describing it as a “ghost”.
